Tim Radford, who has a fine voice and a vast repertoire of traditional songs, is
an English born singer now living in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, USA.
On George Blake's Legacy Tim performs songs and recitations from the area of his birth The New Forest, Hampshire and from one man, George Blake.
Tim has long been interested in the songs collected in Hampshire 1905-09 by
Dr George B. Gardiner, and can be heard singing some of them on Folk Songs from Hampshire and Dorset.
He has made a particular study of the songs of George Blake and on this recording presents songs and recitations all collected from Blake, a gardener who was born in the parish of Minstead, New Forest, Hampshire, in 1829, of whom Gardiner said: "Although 78 years of age, Blake was a very fine and intelligent singer."
All songs are unaccompanied except where indicated, with musical interludes
by the guest musicians:
